After registration, which takes a few minutes, the international domains take 30min to 2 hours to show across the DNS. It can however take 24-48 hours for a domain to fully replicate changes, additions, or deletions across all name servers.
For you to see the effects, however, all depends on your ISP.
South African domains take anywhere between 2-6 hours.
